The publisher supplies only a Vote Files record identifier. Status, wording, date, source, and destination resolve again from the stored public record on every refresh.

Two-line install

Built for ordinary publishing systems.

Place the container where the card should appear, then load the Vote Files embed script once on the page. Load the official script directly from Vote Files; do not copy, proxy, or rewrite it.

Publisher CSP: if your site uses Content Security Policy, allow https://votefiles.com in both script-src and frame-src. The publisher page itself must use HTTPS.

Use a supported file

Bills, recorded votes, court cases, executive orders, audited topics, and dated Morning Record editions are supported in the pilot.

Keep attribution intact

The Vote Files mark, supporting-source link, record date, and full-file destination are permanent parts of the card.

Let corrections propagate

Do not screenshot or rewrite the card. Each reload re-resolves the source-backed language; a successful cached response expires within five minutes.

Identifier contract

The publisher chooses the file—not the wording.

Use exactly one supported query shape. Extra fields, duplicate fields, caller-written headlines, malformed dates, and records without dated evidence display a visible unavailable card and are never cached.

Replace only the identifier values in data-vf-src. Bill types are hr, hjres, hconres, hres, s, sjres, sconres, or sres. Keep the Vote Files origin, /embed.php path, loader version, attribution, source link, and full-file link intact.

Security and privacy

The embed cannot read the publisher’s page.

The iframe is sandboxed, sends no referrer, sets no Vote Files account cookie, contains no form, and runs no code. Publisher pages remain outside the Vote Files security boundary.
