Politician litigation lookup

Search presidents, members of Congress, and the verified state, territorial, or local officials currently represented in VoteFiles. The nonfederal rollout includes the complete reviewed governor/D.C.-mayor identity cohort, partial attorney-general and other statewide-office cohorts, and strict current-legislator roster adapters; the page’s live scope measures show what is actually stored. Court results require an explicit official-capacity caption, an independently verified service interval, and reliable later-action tracking. Personal matters are excluded.

What this lookup can say

It can connect an explicit official-capacity court caption to a politician who held that office on the record date, but only when the court can be followed for later action. It cannot safely turn a surname, search snippet, allegation, or personal dispute into a public association.

A deliberately narrow result

An empty litigation section never means “no case exists.” It means no public record has passed VoteFiles’ exact identity, dated service, official-capacity, subject-matter, private-party, and court-follow-through gates. Private and personal-capacity matters are outside this product. Federal presidents and members of Congress have archive-wide identity coverage. The nonfederal catalog is a measured rollout: the reviewed governor/D.C.-mayor identity cohort is complete; attorney-general and other statewide-office cohorts are partial; and every admitted legislator adapter accepts only an exact government roster. A current-office identity may appear before a separate primary source establishes the service dates needed for court matching. State courts, local courts, and administrative matters are not yet represented.

Admitted current-legislator registry: 34 jurisdictions and 4,387 government-sourced identities reviewed through 2026-09-05; 22 jurisdictions remain unadmitted. Registry identity is not a verified service interval or a court-coverage claim.

State-legislator acquisition map: 56 federal directory routes checked on 2026-09-02; 33 opened, 1 reached only one chamber, and 22 retained exact access or availability walls. These routes are not counted as legislator identities or service terms.
