- Recount request deadline: Set by rule, not a fixed date. The statute: “the difference between the number of votes received by a candidate ... and the number of votes received by any other candidate ... shall be not more than one percent of the total votes which were cast for such office ... the committee or board ... shall order a recount ... forthwith unless such other candidate or candidates shall waive a recount in writing” (S.C.
